TUM, educationist fear for teachers over workload anticipated
As the final phase of school re-opening has commended today, Teachers Union of Malawi TUM and educationist fear for teachers over the workload anticipated.
TUM secretary general Charles Kumchenga and Educationist Dr Steve Shara said the arrangement will derail education standards as the expected may not be delivered.
Kumchenga and Dr Shara added that the arrangement will encourage absenteeism and laziness among learners particularly those alternating.
However Kumchenga has commended government for reopening schools saying “it wouldn’t be right to cancel the whole academic year bearing in mind the challenges that might rise.”
Dr Shara advised schools to critically look at the guidelines and implement those that suit them.
He has asked relevant stakeholders to take part on promoting education.
