DREAM screens women on cervical cancer in Malawi

Disease Relief through Excellent Advanced Means (DREAM) says it has managed to screen 1,812 women and girls for cervical cancer in Mangochi district.

Speaking to Radio Islam DREAM Project Coordinator, Darlington Thole this is the first time in Mangochi district to screen such a high number of women and girls in just for four days.

“Out of the total figure 27 were found with precancerous lesions and were treated on spot, while 9 were found to be Cancer suspects and were referred for gynecological examination, 54 were found with other gynecological conditions and were assisted,” Thole explained

However he urged the remaining women and girls to continue going for screening in their nearest health facilities.

Thole said they are expecting to have another Mass Mobile Screening campaign for Cervical Cancer in August this year.
