Malawi President meets FAO Director

President Lazarus Chakwera has held discussions with Director of Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO) at its headquarters

Chakwera assured FAO that he will make sure agriculture becomes a big business in Malawi by utilizing water from Lake Malawi for irrigation and create more mega farms to address El Niño impacts which brought hunger in the country

He said it has been tough for Malawi to deal with effects of climate change hence the need for deliberate efforts on irrigation.

The FAO Director General said his Organisation is committed to supporting Malawi in irrigation and address issues of climate change thereby averting hunger.
