Government to restore trees in 4.5 million hectares-President

President Dr Lazaras Chakwera says his government will restore trees in 4.5 million hectares of land this coming tree planting season.

Chakwera said the country looses up to 32 thousand hectors of trees every year due to human mal-practices.

The President has said this during a weekly briefing at the state house in Lilongwe.

As such Chakwera said “I will put in place a task force to oversee environmental issues in a multi-sectoral approach,”

He said the task force will include experts from mining, Local government, water management, natural resource among others stressing partnership is key to achieving the country’s goals.
