ESCOM pays back loans

Electricity Supply Cooperation of Malawi ESCOM says is paying back loans

This follows the directive by vice president Dr Saulos Chilima that ESCOM should pay Electricity Generation Company of Malawi EGENCO.

According to chief executive officer of ESCOM Alexon Chiwaya they are focusing on reducing blackouts, making sure electricity is affordable and reporting frequently to stakeholders.

“We are working on reforms to ensure ESCOM operates to expectations of Malawians,” said Chiwaya

On Malawi-Mozambique interconnection Chiwaya said they already signed all necessary agreements and preparations for the program are in progress.
