CCM Develops MCDS
Cotton Council of Malawi (CCM) has developed Malawi Cotton Development Strategy (MCDS) which is the strategic plan to guide development of the cotton sub-sector in the country.
Executive director for CCM, Cosmas Luwanda disclosed this during media briefing on the new development in Cotton industry in the country.
He said the strategic Plan is slated to be implementing a four year program from 2019/20 to 2023/24 growing seasons with an aim of improving proactive and adding value to the crop.
“Cotton sub-sector contributes more to agricultural growth and transformation in the country although it continues to face key challenges,” Luwanda said
African Institute for Corporate Citizenship Chief Executive Officer Dr Felix Lombe said the strategy wants to improve production capacity to 50,000 metric tonnes of cotton production per year.
