IMF tells MW financial service providers to introduce Islamic banking
Adviser to International Monitory Fund IMF on Islamic finance Professor Monzer Kahf has urged financial service providers in Malawi MW to include Islamic financial services by introducing Islamic Banking.
Kahf who is also the lecturer in Islamic finance and economics at Hamad Bin Khalifa University said this at Malawi Sun Hotel in Blantyre during a workshop that was organized by Muslim Association of Malawi MAM with the aim of educating financial institutions in the country on Islamic Banking.
He said that Islamic Banking is not only for Muslims because it benefits everyone without violating human rights.
According to Kahf “over 78 countries have established Islamic banking.”
In her remarks one of the participants at the function Diana Mwandidya of NICO Holdings Company, commended MAM for organizing the function.
“The knowledge I have acquired will enable my company to consider the introduction of Islamic Banking.” said Mwandidya.
Secretary General of MAM sheikh Dr Salmin Omar Idrus thanked the participants for their participation.
