Democratic Progressive Party has declared that it will protect its supporters and the country with renewed energy.
DPP regional governor for the South Charles Mchacha made the call during a press briefing at the party’s regional headquarters in Blantyre.
Mchacha said the party has noted with deep sadness the increased levels of violence, plunder and destruction of national assets, all under the misplaced guise of human rights defending in the aftermath of 21 May 2019 tripartite elections.
“We have also observed with grief the victimization of our DPP supporters by the opposition political supporters during periods of demonstrations and even during times when there are no protests,” added Mchacha
He has vowed to rescue Malawi from anarchy and protect integrity of electoral systems, root out violence as well as put the country back on the path of peace and sustainable development.
“We reject violence, destruction and anarchy therefore hereby announce to all DPP members not to be intimidated, to stand strong and to put on courage because DPP legitimately won the May 21 elections,” Mchacha stressed
Mchacha has called for an immediate stop to plunder and destruction of both public and private property.
He announced that now is time for for all DPP supporters to march forward in supporting the development agenda championed by their legitimately elected leader who won the elections President Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika.
Mchacha warned Richard Chimwendo Banda of his crusade to harm and kill DPP supporters saying will not go far and they will hold him accountable for any slight injury or death caused by any DPP supporter or to any Malawian citizen.
