Muslim Association of Malawi Congratulates President Mutharika

Muslim Association of Malawi MAM has congratulated president professor Arthur Peter Mutharika for being re-elected as president of Malawi.

In a press release Chairman of MAM Sheikh Idrissa Muhammad has send best wishes for Mutharika success and wisdom in discharging important and responsible duties of his position.

Sheikh Muhammad says “the association is confident that the trust placed in Mutharika by citizens of Malawi will inspire him to continue important efforts in promoting unity of the country, leading it on the path of prosperity, further well being and security for people.”

He has commended international community, the judiciary, key political figures, civil society organizations, security agencies and all electoral stakeholders on their resolve to make the elections process as credible and peaceful as possible.

Sheikh Muhammad also commend the media for its relative restraint in covering elections without fanning the flames of hate speech,” said Sheikh Muhammad

“I appeal to supporters of all political parties both the judicial and the defeated to move past this chapter and work together for the collective good of the nation,” pleaded Sheikh Muhammad

Meanwhile, swearing in ceremony of president Mutharika will take place this afternoon.

The ceremony is expected to take place at Kamuzu stadium in Blantyre.
