Mutharika’s idea on special committee of appointment receives positive feedback

Political analyst has said the creation of the special committee of appointment by the new president is a welcome development.

Speaking to Radio Islam, Dr Henry Chingaipe, Acting Director of the Institute for Policy Research and Social Empowerment, a local think tank based in Lilongwe, said Mutharika’s inaugural speech is inspiring and has given hope especially in terms of the fight against corruption.

Dr Chingaipe said Mutharika has created history by being the first president to talk about the creation of such the special committee of appointment.

According to Chingaipe, the creation of such a committee will guarantee independence of directors and hence improve prosecution of corruption cases and other related cases.
