As the first phase of voter registration ends today UN Resident Coordinator in Malawi, Miss Maria Jose Torres has expressed concern over the number of women in the first phase of voter registration in Kasungu, Dedza and Salima districts.

Torres expressed the worry in Kasungu during a monitoring visit to some voter registration centers.

She said there is need for more voter civic education.

However, Torres said was impressed with how Malawi government has invested in voter registration in readiness for 2019 tripartite elections.

“Biometric voter registration system is effective hence it will enable a lot of people to register,” Torres said.
