Many Muslims Aspire to Contest Malawi’s Next Year’s elections

Aspiring candidate for Democratic progressive Party (DPP) Mulanje West constituency Yusuf Nthenda has encouraged the youths in the area to work hard in their education to be productive citizens.

Nthenda made the remarks on Saturday during the launch of a one million-kwacha football Trophy in the area of group village headman Khwala, Traditional Authority Juma in Mulanje district.

Speaking to Radio Islam, he said “the youths are important in the constituency and they can develop the area if most of them are educated.”

Nthenda appealed to young girls and boys not to get into early marriages.

On this note, he said this is why he decided to launch the football trophy in the constituency as one way of encouraging the youths into sports discipline.

“I will contest on DPP ticket as Member of Parliament in Mulanje West saying am capable of bringing development to the whole constituency,” Nthenda said.

Meanwhile, group village headman Muhiyo has commended Nthenda for organizing a football trophy saying it will help the youths in the area to avoid engaging in bad behaviors.

“The constituency needs a new member of parliament who can bring much needed developments in all parts,” chief Muhiyo said.

Muhiyo therefore promised her support to Nthenda.
