Muslim Women in Malawi Trained in Tallulah

Muslim women who attended a five day training in Art have been urged to use the skills they have attained in order to improve their social economic status.

The remarks were made by principal for Maryam Girls Teachers Training College Muhammad Noordeen.

Closing the Tallulah or Art workshop the principal of Mariam Girls teachers training college Muhammad Noordeen said the training is an eye opener to Muslim women as they have acquired knowledge and skills to help them become self-reliant.

“I will help in finding donors towards the contribution of such workshops,” promised Noordeen

Speaking, Muslim female teacher’s organization, Chairlady, Zakia Noordeen, thanked Muslim women for participating in the training and has since promised to continue organizing such workshops.

“We will arrange another workshop towards the end of 2018,” Noordeen said.

She has since called on other Muslim women to participate in the upcoming trainings.

In her remarks one of the participants at the workshop, Maryam Jiya thanked MUFTO for organizing the training.

She said time has come for Muslim women to change their families through entrepreneurship.

“I will use the skills acquired to start business using locally available materials,” said Jiya

She has therefore called on her fellow women to employ other women in order to help them uplift their lives.

The workshop brought together women from Blantyre, Zomba, Dedza, Nkhotakota, Lilongwe, Balaka, Mangochi, Machinga, Ntcheu and Thyolo districts.

They acquired skills in wax hair remover, sewing, decorating aprons and walls, painting, fabric designing and many more.

The participants who were 23 in number were awarded a certificate of attendance at the end of the training.
