Center for Democracy and Economic Development Initiatives CDEDI has asked government to recover money from Green Built Initiative greenhouses farm project which is at Kamuzu International Airport .
Speaking during a press conference in Lilongwe, CDEDI executive director says through Green Built Initiative Green House Project the former Democratic Progressive Party government paid $5 million to an Israel firm known as Inossellia to construct a high value vegetable farm which is 30 kilometers away from KIA.
He says his Organisation has written ministry of finance and chief secretary to government demanding an immediate recovery of foreign exchange which is in the hands of Inossellia.
Namiwa has also demanded audited accounts for the 6 years of the farm activities detailed exit plan including and how the company will pay back before leaving the country as it is clear that it has bleached its contract.
“MCP government also signed an agreement that government of Malawi would be paying the firm the sum of $25 000 per month as management fees further draining tax payers money,” Namiwa
The CDEDI director has urged Chiefs to reach out to all people affected by hunger in the lean season emergency response program.
