
Over 20, 000 Malawians affected by Cyclone Jude
Final report on impact of cyclone Jude indicates that 20646 people approximately 4588 households have been affected in 11 districts
The report from Department of Disaster Management Affairs DODMA says Phalombe district council still has the highest number of affected people and the number of displaced population has increased
Commissioner of the department Charles Kalemba says total number of injured remains 15 in Thyolo, Mulanje, Blantyre and Phalombe
“On 12 March Cyclone June had affected nine councils namely Nsanje, Neno, Blantyre District, Mwanza, Phalombe, Zomba City, Mangochi District, Thyolo and Mulanje” Kalemba says
He says so far 8 camps have been established to provide shelter to the displaced people
Meanwhile the national search and rescue team is still conducting operations following reports of flooding around Thuchira River and the missing of 3 people after the boat capsized in Ruon River in Nsanje
