2025 Inflation to be moderate-RBM
Reserve Bank of Malawi RBM has said 2025 inflation rate will moderate to lower levels compared to 2024
RBM governor Dr. Mafuta Mwale said to journalists in Blantyre that 2025 production capacity rate is likely to go up.
Dr. Mwale has blushed out fears that government expenditure is likely to increase as Malawi is going to general elections
He added that the fear will arise if government will fund projects from central bank rather than borrowing from private sector
Meanwhile economic expert Adam Chikapa Gaisi has described RBM governor’s projection of inflation in 2025 as ridiculous.
Guisi mentioned shortage of forex that has chocked companies and unavailability of affordable farm inputs to rural farmers as factors that would determine high inflation in 2025.
Currently, World Bank has warned Malawi to urgently fix its economic challenges.
