Muslim Artists Awards gives IZF Special Recognition
Muslim Artists Awards has given Islamic Zakaat Fund a special recognition for promoting education among the Muslim community.
IZF has received the award during the 2024 Muslim Arts awards presentation ceremony at Amaryllis hotel in Blantyre.
According to the grouping IZF has been very instrumental in changing the narrative on education of the Muslim Community.
Its communications manager Bashir Amin says people cannot talk about the Muslim icons in the country without recognizing the role of IZF on them.
Besides IZF Kanjedza sisters and a renowned football icon Yasin Osman were also acknowledged for their impactful role in the Muslim community.
Reacting, IZF bursary officer Khalid Chilima appreciates Muslim Arts awards for the good gesture adding it has boosted its moral on its efforts to supporting needy students in the country.
This year’s awards which recognized 21 people and institutions, saw the introduction of a media category which one of the judges Siffat Msusa called for more awareness among the journalists on the entry requirements.
Speaking after the function chairperson for Muslim arts awards Tailosi Bakili while expressing satisfaction on the outcome of the event, said the new category was initiated after a call from the community.
Bakili however said only few entries were received in the new category.
He has requested the Muslim Community to make use of such functions to showcase their capabilities.
Speaking after receiving their awards in print and radio personality categories, Gift Sitima and Sackina Majawa who submitted entries on child rights and kabaza operators stories’ expressed their happiness for being appreciated adding the award is a greatest inspiration to their job.
