Government warns of hottest weather

Department of climate change and metrological services has warned of uncomfortably hot weather in some parts of the 3 regions of the country from 19 December 2024.

In a statement the department says Ngabu will experience harsh weather the most with a Max of 42°C followed by Mangochi 37°C.

However, the department says cases of thunderstorms with rain will affect isolated areas due to the influence of less moist easterly air mass.

In an interview director for the department Lucy Mtilatila says the harsh weather will last for at least five days.

Mtilatila has advised Malawians to stay dehydrated, give extra care to people with underlying illnesses and avoid exposing themselves in the sun between 11 to 3pm when sun is harsh.
