Malawian renowned sheikh, Dr Salmeen Omar Idrus has advised Muslims in the country to harness the culture of reading in order to promote their understanding of various issues.
Dr Idrus was speaking after receiving a prestigious award for emerging second in the king Muhammad the sixth foundation for African Umala research competition.
His winning research was entitled school of Islamic Jurisprudence: concept of establishment, and growth.
In an interview with Radio Islam Dr Idrus expressed immense happiness for the win saying it was a tough one considering the limited time factor.
He said it is a great honor to be invited to Morocco for the award hence asking others to also participate in future competitions.
Dr Salmeen advises people to invest their passion and desire in reading rather if there are to win than wasting much of it on social media platforms.
Chairperson’s for Muslim Association of Malawi Sheikh Idrissa Muhammad and King Muhammad the sixth Foundation for African Ulama Sheikh Bakar Duncan have once again congratulated Dr Idrus for representing Malawi well.
Guinea’s Dr Aminata Diallo scooped first position in the same category.
