Civil Society Election Integrity Platform urges politicians to avoid inflammatory remarks on Elections

Civil Society Organizations from the Eastern Region, under the banner, Civil Society Election Integrity Platform, have urged politicians to avoid making inflammatory statements that could lead to unrest ahead of the 2025 general elections.

Speaking during a press briefing in Liwonde, the group’s chairperson, Sammy Aaron, called for campaigns based on issues rather than violence, emphasizing that political violence erodes democratic values.

Aaron also appealed to leaders at all levels to denounce actions and language that incite violence and called on law enforcement to take swift action against any form of intimidation, ensuring accountability for offenders.

The group has further encouraged citizens to register to vote where registration is open and warned young people to avoid being manipulated by political figures.
