President Chakwera extends his stay in United Arab Emirates
President Lazarus Chakwera has extended his stay in United Arab Emirates UAE
Chakwera was expected to return to Malawi on Sunday 8th December but will come back on Tuesday 10th December
According to Ministry of foreign affairs the extension is due to extended engagements with president of UAE Sheikh Muhammad Al Nahyan
The Ministry says the plane carrying the president is expected to land at Kamuzu International Airport at one 0’clock in the afternoon
Chakwera went to UAE to discuss the fuel deal under the government to government policy which he announced in a national address
The trip also took place few days after parliament passed the oil and gas production and supply bill which will assist in the implementation of that policy.
Minister of Energy, Ibrahim Matola says the fuel supply will be normalised following Chakwera’s meeting with UAE President
Matola says the two leaders hold bilateral discussions on supply of petroleum products in Malawi among others.
Commenting on government to government fuel policy, Matola said any change in a system comes with challenges but change is inevitable as far as protecting Malawians is concerned, energy being an abler.
