Police fire Teargas on Malawians planning to demonstrate against Crises
Police have fired teargas to disperse people who gathered in Lilongwe demonstrate against fuel scarcity and other crises rocking the country.
They include UTM president Dr Dalitso Kabambe and officials of Centre for Democracy and Economic Development Initiatives CDEDI that organised the demonstrations.
One of the organizers Joseph Peshi vowed to continue with the protests but lamented that police officers are denying them their right to demonstrate although they did not received a letter from the district council to shift to another date.
He said were discussing to gather at another place to go to Capital hill to deliver their petition.
However a group of the youth carrying panga knives and branches of trees while hiding their faces with clothes arrived at Lilongwe Community Centre Ground from the direction of Biwi Township.
Some of the police officers were running away from the armed group but others were just watching them
