MEC engages Electoral Stakeholders on Ant-conflicts framework
Malawi Electoral Commission has engaged electoral stakeholders to formulate a framework aimed at dealing with complaints and conflicts in 2025 general elections
Speaking during the opening of the engagement meeting in Lilongwe chairperson of the commission Justice Anabel Mtalimanja hopes that the strategies will ensure free, fair and credible elections
Meanwhile, Malawi Electoral Commission MEC says phase 3 of voter registration will proceed as scheduled from 28th November to 11th December 2024 in Mzimba, Lilongwe, Mangochi, Mwanza, Chikwawa and Nsanje
In a public notice the electoral body has encouraged all eligible citizens in those Councils to exercise their right and civic duty by registering as voters for 16th September 2025 General Election.
The commission says is currently reviewing voter registration statistics and all challenges and successes encountered during Phase 2.
MEC says Based on this assessment, it will duly advise whether an extension of the registration period is appropriate.
The Commission has commended eligible citizens who registered as voters in the recently concluded Phase 2 of voter registration exercise for their dedication to civic duty and commitment to make the exercise a success.
