Medical Council of Malawi deregisters medical practitioners for misconduct

Medical Council of Malawi has deregistered some medical practitioners for negligence and misconduct.

This follows a disciplinary hearing that found guilty ten out of 17 cases the council received

In a statement signed by chief executive officer of medical council of Malawi Dr Davie Zolowera most of the cases were from public hospitals while 6 from private health facilities

Zolowere says the deregistered medical practitioners are Charles Mtibo, Luois Kinly, Henderson Nyirenda from Queen Elizabeth Central Hospital and Rhoda Ajusa from Balaka District Hospital.

“Some of the medical practitioners have been issued with warnings, fines, withdrawn their licences and one referred back to police for further investigation,” Zolowere

Some of the cases include charging patients, medical negligence, practicing in a private facility without licence and writing a fake medical report using another practitioners credentials.
