UTM refutes allegation of imposing Criterion on Convention’ Contestants

UTM has refuted allegations that it has agreed to impose a criterion requiring members to be part of the party for two years in order to contest at the convention

In a statement UTM publicity secretary Felix Njawala has clarified that those claims are unsubstantiated therefore urges the party members and all concerned Malawians to treat any discussions that diverge from their ratified decisions as mere speculation

Njawala says UTM convened its national executive committee NEC and Central Committee to discuss several significant matters affecting the party’s direction and future

He says some of the decisions made and ratified by its central executive committee include setting of nomination fees, selection of venue for upcoming convention, allocation of delegate numbers, establishment of new positions, creation of additional political regions and date for convention

According to Njawala UTM has confirmed that the convention will take place on 17th November and the convention committee will soon release further details of the agenda and logistics.
