Include People with disabilities in Social Protection Programs-APDM
Association of Physically Disabled in Malawi APDM has called for joint efforts to ensure that social protection policies and programs address challenges faced by persons with disabilities
Speaking during a meeting with government officials on disability inclusive social protection executive director of the association Charles Khaula said they noted gaps in social protection programs for people with disabilities hence calling for their review to address these deficiencies
Khaula presented a position paper to stakeholders and duty bearers outlining recommendations to end challenges faced by persons with disabilities in accessing social protection systems
Director responsible for poverty reduction and social protection in ministry of finance Kettie Langwe disclosed that government is in the process of drafting a new national social protection policy that will tackle challenges experienced by people with disabilities
Director General of Malawi Council of Disability affairs George Chiusiwa appealed for an urgent drafting of the new policy
