Three suspected Mpox cases test negative in Malawi
Ministry of health says three suspected cases at Queen Elizabeth central and in Zomba district have tested negative
In a press release secretary for health Dr Samson Mndolo says two suspected cases were admitted in isolation ward at Queen Elizabeth Central hospital while one in Zomba district.
Mndolo says the laboratory confirmation was done by Malawi Liverpool Welcome Trust laboratory in partnership with public health institute Malawi.
However the Ministry reminds the public that Malawi is at great risk of Mpox disease as it is a global threat
The secretary of health says the Ministry is working closely with world health Organisation, Africa CDC and all partners to prevent the disease
Mpox disease is prevented by avoiding physical contact with someone who has the disease or contaminated materials, regular hand washing with soap and reporting early to nearest health facility
