Stakeholders urge Malawi Government to adopt Abuja declaration

Government has been urged to adopt Abuja declaration which advocates for allocation of over 15 percent of national budget to health sector amid donors support withdrawal

This was said by stakeholders during national community health framework dissemination meeting in Machinga which was organised by Ministry of health in partnership with Last Mile Health with funding from Global Fund

Reacting to the development Machinga central east legislator Daudi Chikwanje called on government to adopt Abuja declaration and revealed plans to lobby for increased support during the budget meeting

On his part director of health and social services in Machinga Jones Chise stated that ministry of health has developed various strategies to ensure the country responsibly and efficiently manages available resources

The meeting brought together faith and political leaders, special groups’ representatives and government officials among other stakeholders.
