Truck Drivers Resume Work

Truck drivers in the country have resumed their work following a strike that left some economic activities on a stand still two days ago.

The strike was aimed at forcing their employers raise their salaries from 140 thousand to 450 thousand kwacha in order to meet up with the economic situation in the country.

In an interview with Radio Islam Truck Drivers Association…Francis Mkandawire confirmed of the development saying they had a meeting with relevant officials hence ending the strike.

However Mkandawire said the employers have agreed to raise the amount to 300 thousand kwacha per month and will be implemented in January 2024.
