Parliament Orders SRWB to Implement ATI

Parliamentary committee on media, information and communications has expressed concern over slow progress by some government institutions to implement Access To Information Law

Committee chairperson Suzen Dossi made the remarks during a meeting with officials of Southern Region Water Board

During the meeting it was discovered that the board is yet to develop a manual and submit reports of their activities implemented in line with provisions of the law

Dossi said the committee has recommended that Malawi Human Rights Commission should orient the board on Access to Information Law

In her remarks chief executive officer for southern region water board Duncan Chambamba has conceded that they will comply with the law effective this month

Chambamba disclosed that the board needs about 200 million dollars to save water supply systems that are climate resilient following cyclone Freddy that hit some of them
