QMAM Calls Muslims to Mitigate Climate Change Effects
QMAM has called upon Muslims in the country to play a key role in mitigating effects of climate change.
Speaking in an interview QMAM national chairman, Sheikh Jafar Kawinga said Malawi continues to meet challenges caused by climate change citing the devastating Cyclone Freddy
He said it is for this reason that they have decided to help by encouraging Muslims cross the country to plant more trees in the fourth coming rainy season.
He says the holy Quran has emphasized on the responsibility that Allah placed on mankind to take care of natural resources hence calling upon Muslims to follow the scriptures.
In his remarks, Muft Chimenya Mnumbe of Salima emphasized the need for Muslims to follow the Sunna of Prophet Muhammad who was sent to teach mankind the best practices.
Taking his turn Mahomed Omar, said Muslims should be merciful towards Allah’s creation.
He cited the tendency of cutting trees careless which is against Islamic teaching adding it is also one of the factors contributing to climate change.
