Teachers Council of Malawi launched

The long awaited Teachers Council of Malawi which was established to regulate teaching profession in the country has been launched

Speaking during the launch Minister of education Madalitso Kambauwa Wilima said the council stands to make a huge difference to quality of teaching in schools and colleges because teachers will now have the opportunity and responsibility to influence and shape their profession

Wilima said the teachers’ council will help to respect the profession and get rid of the malpractices such as teachers abusing learners and unqualified teachers

She therefore advised council members to do a good job and pledged government’s support

The education minister encouraged Malawians who like to join the teaching profession to come in large numbers

she encouraged the Teachers Council of Malawi to go and make a difference in the lives of children
