A project to transform higher education in Malawi has been launched in the capital city
During the launch deputy minister of education Nancy Chaola Mdooko said the project has come at the right time when the country is implementing Malawi Vision 2063
Mdooko said through the project the nation will construct a future that is better and more inclusive than in the past through improved youths skills.
She overemphasized that it is disheartening that Malawi is among countries that have the lowest percentages as less than 3 percent of young adults get enrolled in higher education against a global average of 38 percent
Mdooko adds that the project will address gender equality and social inclusion needs for Malawian youths for sustainable development
United States Ambassador to Malawi David Young said his government through USAID is investing 18 billion kwacha to strengthen higher education in Malawi
Chief of Party for Transforming Higher Education Systems Dr Tasokwa Kakota Chibowa said the project will help institutions deliver high quality programs and increase research as well as innovation.
