BWB installs 33, 000 prepaid metres
Blantyre Water Board BWB says has installed over 33 thousand prepaid meters for its customers since five years ago.
This is almost half of a total figure of 73 thousand clients that the board has connected with water.
BWB spokesperson Evelyn Khonje says the delay to reach out to many of its customers is due to challenges in the procurement process.
Meanwhile Khonje says the prepaid meter maintenance exercise that it is currently undertaking is progressing well.
Khonje says BWB embarked on the exercise following the lapsing of the five year life span of the prepaid meters to boost its effectiveness.
She cited no water supply due to battery failure and gadgets leaking water as some of the concerns that the board has been receiving from customers.
