Majilis Ulama Council of Malawi donates clothes to cyclone survivors

Majilis Ulama Council of Malawi has emphasized the need to assist people affected by cyclones with food items to avert hunger situation in camps.

This has been said during the handing over of more than 60 bales of clothes to cyclone survivors in the area of Traditional Authority Mposa, Machinga district

Speaking after donation, Majilis Ulama Council of Malawi secretary general Sheikh Muslim Abasi Vinjenje said in all camps the council has visited  and donated non-food items the hunger situation is rife hence the need for donors and well-wishers to do something as soon as possible.

On this note, Sheikh Vinjenje said Majilis Ulama Council of Malawi will engage its donors to commence distributing food items in all camp in order to reduce effects of hunger in camps.

Sheikh Vinjenje then thanked leadership of Muslims Association Malawi and office of grand Muft in Malawi for introducing an initiative that has seen the council reaching out to more people affected by cyclones.

Speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries, Member of Parliament for Machinga South Grant Ndecha said the donation will go a long way towards assist victims of cyclone in his constituency.

Ndecha concurred with Sheikh Vinjenje on the need for organizations and well-wishers to come in Mposa area with food items as people in camps are in dire need of food.
