KCH CD4 machine down

HIV patients in the central region have said malfunctioning of CD4 machine that screens their blood at Kamuzu Central hospital which is the biggest referral hospital in the Region is contributing to deterioration of their lives.

“We are losing their money through transport because are asked to go another day,” they said.

When asked two laboratory technicians at the hospital confirmed to radio Islam that the machine has not been functioning for 2 weeks.

“The blood samples are being sent to Bwaila hospital for testing and screening,” the personnel said.

Radio Islam tried to call the Ministry to find out about what it is doing to overcome the problem but the number of its spokesperson could not be reached.
