Government develops integrated social protection system

Government says is developing an integrated social protection system to ensure that vulnerable and at risk Malawians are better protected.

Minister of finance Sosten Gwengwe has disclosed this during the launch of the 2022 social protection week under the theme; inclusive and shock sensitive social protection learning from practice.

Speaking during the function Gwengwe said there are too many social protection programs hence the planned system will consolidate all the programs to effectively reach the poor and vulnerable with the support.

“Revision of the national social support policy will help to ensure that social support systems are well aligned with resilience building initiative, labour markets and employment policies to address inequalities and more inclusive growth,” Gwengwe

He said the 3 day conference will provide an opportunity for stakeholders to reflect on the achievements, challenges and available opportunities as the country endevours to move forward.
