MAM Bails out Kasungu Hunger Stricken Families

Muslim Association of Malawi (MAM) has donated bags of maize to four hundred families in Kasungu district.

Speaking during the distribution exercise held at Kasungu Main Masjid, the National Chairman for MAM, Sheikh Idrissa Muhammad, said MAM is equally concern by the hunger which has stricken most parts of the country.

Sheikh Muhammad said he decided to visit Muslims from Kasungu to hear for himself the challenges Muslim community in the district are going through.

He said MAM has lined up a number of projects including the construction of masjid, madrassah blocks, clinics, drilling of boreholes and distribution of relief items to hunger stricken families in the country.

Sheikh Muhammad said he is pleased to note that the number of Muslims in Kasungu has tremendously increased for the past few years.
In his remarks, District Chairman for MAM in Kasungu, Rajaab Mponda, commended MAM Chairman for the donation.

Mponda said Muslims from the district were expecting such assistant as many of them are dying of hunger.

He therefore asked other Muslim organizations to emulate the good gesture the leadership of MAM has taken.

Speaking at the same function, MAM Regional Secretary for the Centre, Sheikh Ibrahim Machokwani called all Muslims to unite and support the leadership of MAM so that should continue benefiting from the donor aid.

Sheikh Machokwani said MAM has struggled to win support from international organization and its time to ripe in the fruits.
