TB Patients Need Nutritious Food – Paradiso
Tuberculosis (TB) patients have been advised to take nutritious foods to enhance their health status.
Speaking in Mchinji after donating assorted food items to TB patients, District Coordinator for Paradiso TB Patients Trust, Upile Ted Sikweya, said if taken accordingly, nutritious foods have the potential to eradicate chronic diseases among TB patients.
Paradiso TB Patients Trust is an organization that was formed to improve and transform lives of post TB and physically challenged patients through community visits in seven districts across the country.
Sikweya said it is imperative to take good care of TB patients as they are prone to other related malnutrition diseases once their eating diet is being compromised.
He added that poor diet also puts lives of TB patients in danger as medication does not function properly.
He further said with increasing cases of Covid 19 in the border district, the donation will help their clients to avoid unnecessary movements because they will have all the necessities at home.
Sikweya therefore pleaded with beneficiaries to use the food items for the intended purposes for the betterment of their nutrition status.
In his remarks, one of the beneficiaries Elias Bachundu described the donation as timely, stating that it will ease some of the challenges they face due to financial constraints.
Total of 18 TB patients were drawn from Traditional Authorities of Mlonyeni, Mkanda, Dambe, Zulu, Kawere, Simphasi and Kapunula in the district.
