Scientist faults Chakwera on his reaction to Israel-Palestine conflict
Political scientist has faulted president Dr Lazarus Chakwera for saying the country is not siding with any country in relation to Israel-Palestine diplomatic issues.
Answering a question in Parliament on Wednesday, Dr Lazarus Chakwera said Malawi is not supporting any country in the conflict.
Speaking to radio islam, Sherrif Kaisi said recent steps which Malawi has taken in relation to the Israel Palestine issue shows no neutrality.
“As of late Malawi has not backtracked its decision to open her embassy offices in Jerusalem hence claiming neutrality in the matter is political,” Kaisi
The stand which Malawi has taken to enhance diplomatic relations with Israel by opening an office in Jerusalem has courted controversy for president Chakwera both locally and internationally.
A few months ago, Palestinian envoy came to Malawi to persuade president Chakwera not to open the office in Jerusalem.
According to Kaisi, the failure to rescind the decision is no sign of a neutral position.
