Japan commences 71 million kwacha health centre construction in Chikwawa
Japanese government has commenced the construction of the 71 million kwacha health centre at Ntamba Therere area in Chikwawa Mkombezi constituency
Speaking during the ground breaking ceremony Deputy Ambassador of Japan in Malawi Hirotsugu Ikeda said his government is committed to promoting health sector in the country
Ikedu said the health center is constructed under The Grant Assistance for Grass-roots Human Security Project (GGP)
“The health centre once completed will be providing maternity and general outpatient’s services among others,” Ikeda
Over 12000 people from 6 villages in the area of Group village headman Therere will benefit from accessing quality health care services at the facility
Member of Parliament for Chikwawa Mkombezi constituency Abida Mia who graced the occasion commended Japanese government for such a support which it is rendering through Gift of The Givers Foundation
Mia who is also deputy minister of lands said the Healthy centre once completed will reduce hardships people in the area are going through as they travel a distance of 14 Kilometres to get health services.
“As a Member of Parliament for the constituency, I will make sure that the project runs according to all guidelines and timeframes,” Mia
She further promised to work together with ministry of health to ensure that the staff and all medical equipments are made available when the faculty opens in October this year
