Concerned citizens to hold demonstrations against president’s SONA’s exclusion of Mangochi projects
Mangochi Concerned Citizens are to hold mass demonstrations to deliver a petition on the exclusion of the construction of some roads in Mangochi district in the 2021/22 national budget.
In a letter addressed to the District Commissioner and copied to Chief Executive Officer of Mangochi Municipality, police and media houses, the demonstrations are expected to be conducted on Monday 24th May
According to one of the coordinators of the demos, Patrick Wasi, the concerned citizens are disappointed to note that several development projects in Mangochi have been excluded in the budget.
“In the state of the national address SONA President Lazarus Chakwera remained silent on the construction of Mangochi-Makanjira, Mangochi-Malombe and Katuli idruss roads, progress of Mangochi International Airport a nd fuve star hotel among others,” Wasi
He said the demonstrations will begin at St Augustine 3 primary school to the district commissioner’s office to deliver the petition
