Leader of opposition faults president’s SONA on implementation of promises

Leader of opposition in parliament has faulted president Chakwera’s state of national address SONA for not highlighting how government will implement tonse alliance promises

In his comment to the president’s state of national address Kondwani Nankhumwa has called upon president Chakwera and minister of finance to fulfil the promises in the 2021 to 2022 national budget

He bemoaned the slow pace at which decisions are made by the current government and expressed concern over Chakwera’s delay to appoint new cabinet ministers

Nankhumwa asked Minister of finance to immediately release funds for the audit of the 7.5 billion kwacha covid-19 funds

The leader of opposition stressed that Chakwera will be held accountable if the third wave of covid-19 hits Malawi

“Government  should increase the tax free band for employees to 150, 000 from 100, 000 in order to ease the economic challenges which people are facing due to increase in prices of basic necessities,” Nankhumwa

Nakhumwa asked Tonse government to protect citizens because insecurity has increased and urged Chakwera to resolve quickly the impasse with teachers union of Malawi to promote right to education

The leader of opposition said the training of MCP youths at Mtakataka police training school and their recruitment is unconstitutional

Nankhumwa asked Chakwera’s administration to ensure fairness in the prosecution of suspects of corruption
