DPP withdraws MEC commissioners appointment rescission judicial review case

Democratic Progressive Party DPP has withdrawn a case in which it was challenging the firing of two MEC commissioners Linda Kunje and Jean Mathanga.

DPP lawyer Charles Mhango confirmed the development to Radio Islam.

The opposition DPP last week filed an application of leave for judicial review on a decision by government to rescind the appointment of Linda Kunje and Jean Mathanga

The withdrawal has also come as the two MEC commissioners sought an injunction restraining government decision to fire them as Malawi Electoral Commission commissioners.

High court granted them the injunction which resulted into the commission resuming its activities
