Budget financing hampering under-nutrition fight-Save the children

Save the children says efforts to fight under-nutrition among children in the country is being hampered by inadequate financing of the national budget

Speaking with Radio Islam Programs manager for Afikepo project at Save the children Jacqulin Chalemera said it is worrisome that a good number of programs that were designed to improve nutrition status of children are no longer active due to lack of funding

Chalemera added that looking at the budget analysis that Save the children conducted there is need to advocate for enough funding of nutrition sectors in order to reduce malnourishment cases in communities

“It is sad to learn that some district councils rely on partners to finance and champion nutrition sectors a thing he said shows lack of commitment on issues concerning nutrition at district and village level,” Chalemera

She also said it is disappointing to note that authorities at district level divert the already less funds allocated for nutrition to other sectors
