New Lhomwe paramount chief appointed
A grouping of Lhomwe led by traditional Authority Nkhulambe in Phalombe have asked president Chakwera not to ascent to the appointment of senior chief Kaduya as the Lhomwe paramount chief.
This follows the announcement of the Mulhakho mwa alhomwe cultural Heritage of the appointment of the senior chief as acting paramount chief of the lhomwe on 23rd February this year.
According to the statement signed by Mutchanakhwayi Mpuluka, the Senior Chief Kaduya was appointed following a meeting by the lhomwe chief’s council.
However, in an interview with radio Islam TA Nkhulambe claims that senior chief Kaduya is not a lhomwe as such will not be proper to be made paramount.
“Lhomwe chiefs were not consulted on the matter and the decision was made by a selected few,” TA Nkhulambe
Meanwhile Muhlakho wa alomwe chief executive officer Pius Mvunya says is not aware of the matter.
Senior Chief Kaduya appointment comes a year after the death of paramount chief Ngolongoliwa in 2019.
