Speaker of parliament tests positive to covid-19
Speaker of parliament Catherine Gotani Hara has tested positive to covid-19
Leader of the house in parliament Richard Chimwendo Banda has confirmed saying Gotani Hara went to hospital to test after noting that two people she was close to tested positive
Chimwendo Banda said “the speaker is in not sick and the development will not affect proceedings of parliament because the first and second deputy speakers are available to lead them.”
Meanwhile, First Deputy speaker Madalitso Kazombe and second deputy speaker Aisha Mambo Adams are leading the deliberations
A number of members of parliament tested positive to covid-19 and some recovered while others died.
The 2020 to 2021 national budget was postponed after noting that many members and staff tested positive of corona virus
