Reconstituted cabinet to be announced at the end of first quarter

State house says the reconstituted cabinet will be announced at the end of the first quarter of this year

Presidential press secretary Brian Banda says President Dr Lazarus Chakwera and vice president Dr Saulos Chilima are reviewing the current cabinet

Banda says recent developments including a second wave of covid-19 and death of two senior cabinet members have necessitated doing the cabinet assessment expeditiously than initially conceived.

“The president announced a postponement of the evaluation process to the first quarter in order to incorporate in the review process the public sector reforms performance contracts that cabinet members signed in November.” Banda

In July 2020 Chakwera announced that the process of assessing the cabinet would involve having the members give progress reports publicly in December followed by short listing to be interviewed publicly in January 2021
