Government rolls out campaign to remove street kids
Ministry of Gender community development and social welfare has rolled out a campaign to remove street kids from the streets.
Speaking to radio Islam as the campaign has started today, Minister of Gender, Patricia Kaliati says the exercise is ongoing and the ministry is geared to remove all the street kids from all streets of the country.
Meanwhile, Blantyre district social welfare Officer Stephano Joseph says they have managed to remove about 50 street kids from the streets of Limbe.
Joseph said the children have been assessed and others will be sent to Mpemba reformatory centre.
“My office is carrying out the exercise in coordination with police, City council and health officials,” Joseph
He said measures to protect the children from COVID 19 are also being followed.
