Teachers boycott MSCE Exams marking
Teachers who are marking the 2024 Malawi School Certificate of Education MSCE examinations are boycotting their duties because Malawi National Examinations Board is mistreating them.
The teachers say among others MANEB is not repaying their transport funds and are residing in hostels which have bed bugs.
One of them Eric Lihonga said the examination board is giving them between 110 or 115 thousand kwacha when they mark a paper which is little as compared to the work they do.
They have made these remarks when MANEB officials visited them to hear their concerns.
Representative of the examination body promised to review concerns of the teachers who have stressed that they will not resume their work until their grievances are resolved.
Spokesperson of MANEB Angela Kashitigu refused to grant media interviews because he did not get permission from authorities.
